About Us

What YTDown does

YTDown is a free web tool that saves YouTube videos as MP4 files or turns them into MP3 audio. You paste a link, choose a format and download the file, all from your browser.

How it works

1. Copy the link of a public YouTube video or Shorts.
2. Paste it into the box on our home page, the MP3 page or the MP4 page.
3. Choose a quality. The file opens in a new tab, ready to save.

Formats and limits

Video is saved as MP4 in 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, 240p or 144p, depending on what the video offers. Audio is saved as MP3, with a choice of 320, 256, 192, 128 or 64 kbps. Only public videos can be saved, and every quality shows its file size before you tap.

Built for phones

Most people save videos on their phone, so every screen is designed for small displays first: large buttons, a short flow and just one tap from a quality to your file. It works the same way on tablets and computers.

Not affiliated with YouTube

YTDown is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to YouTube or Google. Please only save videos that you have the right to keep.
